You Did What?!
What Exactly is Going On Here?!!
Being that it is LAUNCH TIME, we thought it would be good idea to give you a little backstory about the website!! Honestly, it has been in the works for a couple of years as we have felt God nudging us to do something with my love of writing.
I’ve never been very interested in book writing…though I LOVE to read other peoples!!...so I wasn’t sure what that meant. I have blogged off and on for quite a while and though I enjoy that, we didn’t feel like that was the entire picture of what we needed to do.
Fast forward about six months ago…it was then that He made it clear that the next step was to make the writings available to a larger audience via a website. I did some research on websites and ways that I could easily create one. After finding a platform that appeared to be doable, we decided to make the plunge in November!!
Now, we quickly ran into several snafus!! The first being we needed to pick a name so that we could purchase the domain. As much as I love naming things, we had no idea what to call the site as we really didn’t yet have a vision. A couple of weeks later I woke up in the middle of the night with a clear purpose of the site… to help others know Him more through His reflection in the writings.
The next day I looked up domain names to see if it was available, and it was! So now we have Know-Him.org!!! I was absolutely stunned that it was available. We were really thankful and really, really excited!
At this point we figured out our next hiccup. Creating a website on an “easy” platform, isn’t really easy…at least not for me!! I asked a few friends who I knew to have more knowledge in this area and came to realize we needed help. That help came in the form of a man from Texas and his incredible ability to not only create websites, but design logos, and an even more incredible ability… to teach me how to use the website!!!
William and I were riding in the car one day talking about what we might want the logo to look like. We had been told that it would be a good idea to do something that placed emphasis on the dash between the words know and Him to help people remember. It was on that car ride that the K-H brand was born! We pitched the idea to our friend in Texas, and he created the logo.
Funny thing…. a couple of weeks later it suddenly occurred to me that those are also my initials!!!!!!!!!!!
Our heart for Know-Him.org is that it be a free resource to help others know Him more. Right now, we see this being accomplished by putting out weekly posts based on three things…Knowing Him through His word, people’s God stories, and focused writings on His creation. Another aspect will be free downloadable studies for individuals as well as groups.
Over the past six years I’ve written close to 100 studies that I’ve used with retreats, teen and ladies’ groups, as well as small groups that I’ve taught. We are editing and adding those to the site for people to use as well.
Right now, I’m working on two new studies to put on the site for people to use individually. One is on Philippians, and the other one on Biblically Radical Relationships.
We are so thankful that you have chosen to check out the site, and our prayer mimics that of Paul in Ephesians 1:16-17… "I have not stopped thanking God for you. I pray for you constantly, asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God."
We pray that through His reflection in the Know-Him writings, we all might gain spiritual wisdom and insight so that we can know Him more…love Him more…and serve Him more.
Because how can we truly love the one we do not know?
